Wooden abras have crossed Dubai Creek for decades and still run as ordinary public transport between Bur Dubai and Deira. The crossing takes about five minutes.
What it costs: AED 1 per person, paid in cash to the driver once you are seated.
Our advice: this is the single best value experience in Dubai. Take the public abra, not the AED 120 “tourist” charter, unless you specifically want a longer sightseeing loop. Boats leave when full, which is usually every couple of minutes.
