Global Village is the single best-value evening in Dubai, and it only exists for part of the year. It is an enormous open-air park of country pavilions, street food from forty-odd nations, a funfair and nightly shows — and gate entry costs about the same as two coffees.
The season — this is the thing to check first
Global Village runs one season a year, typically opening in mid-to-late October and closing in April or May. It is completely shut through the summer.
If you are visiting between June and September, it is not an option — see what to do in Dubai in summer instead. Always check the official season dates before building an evening around it.
What it costs
- Gate entry: around AED 30 per person, sometimes less on weekdays or when booked online
- Children under 3 and seniors: usually free
- Food: AED 10–40 a dish across the pavilions
- Carnaval rides: charged separately, either per ride or via a wristband
- Parking: free in the general lots, paid closer in
A full evening — entry, dinner, a couple of rides — lands around AED 100–150 per person.
What is actually there
- Country pavilions — around 30 covering 90+ countries. Each is part market, part food court. Egypt, Turkey, Iran, India, Yemen and Palestine are consistently the strongest for food and shopping.
- Carnaval — a large funfair with rides for all ages
- Street food — the real draw. Cheap, varied and genuinely good
- Stage shows and fireworks — free with entry, several times a week
- Ripley’s Believe It or Not and stunt shows — separately ticketed
How to do it well
- Go on a weekday. Weekend evenings are extremely crowded and the car park alone can cost you an hour.
- Arrive at opening, usually around 16:00. The first two hours are calm and the light is good.
- Eat in the pavilions, not the food courts. The pavilion kitchens are cheaper and better.
- Haggle. Pavilion prices are negotiable, especially later in the evening.
- Wear real shoes. You will walk several kilometres without noticing.
- Bring cash for the smaller stalls, though most take cards now.
Getting there
Global Village is in Dubailand, well outside the city centre and not on the Metro.
- Metro + bus: take the Red Line and connect to a dedicated Global Village bus. Cheapest, slowest.
- Taxi: around AED 60–90 from Downtown, more from the Marina. ⚠️ Getting a taxi out at closing time is genuinely difficult — book a ride before you head to the exit.
- Driving: free parking, but expect a long walk from the far lots and heavy queues to leave.
Is it worth it?
Yes, and it is the one big Dubai attraction that costs almost nothing. It is loud, crowded and commercial, and it is also the most genuinely multicultural place in the city — closer to what Dubai actually is than most of the polished attractions.
Go for the food if nothing else.
Common questions
How long do I need?
Three to four hours minimum. A full evening is better.
Is it good for children?
Very. The Carnaval funfair, the shows and the space to walk make it one of the better family evenings — see also Miracle Garden.
Is it open during Ramadan?
Usually yes, with adjusted hours and no daytime food service. The atmosphere after iftar is excellent.
