A Dubai family trip depends on each child’s age and height, the activity timing and the distances between stops. Combine indoor activities with outdoor time suited to the weather, and plan for seats, pushchairs and breaks rather than assuming every attraction suits every family.
Free and cheap, which is most of the good stuff
- The Dubai Fountain — free, every 30 minutes, and reliably a hit
- The abra across the Creek — AED 1, a real wooden boat, and the thing children talk about afterwards
- The public beaches — Kite Beach has showers, sand toys for sale and food trucks; see all the beaches
- The Dubai Aquarium tank — visible free from the walkway inside Dubai Mall
- Al Mamzar Beach Park — lawns, pools and barbecue areas for a few dirhams

The big paid attractions
IMG Worlds of Adventure
An indoor option with Marvel and Cartoon Network zones and different rides. Choose according to the ride conditions, your child’s interests and height rather than treating age 6 as a rule for the whole park.
Aquaventure at Atlantis
On Palm Jumeirah. The operator describes Splasher Island as mainly designed for children under 1.2 m tall. Individual rides have their own conditions; check the rides suitable for your child’s height rather than using one age rule for the entire park.
KidZania
A miniature city inside Dubai Mall. KidZania’s booking lists children aged 4–16 and toddlers aged 2–3; children under 120 cm must be accompanied by an adult. Check each child’s ticket category and activity conditions before paying.
Ski Dubai
Snow, penguins and toboggan runs inside Mall of the Emirates. Novel enough to be worth it once.
Miracle Garden and Global Village
Both are seasonal, so do not assume they are available on every date. Global Village announced its season from 14 October 2026 until May 2027; check the visit day and hours. Miracle Garden publishes its seasonal hours and daily schedule on its website; check these before planning your evening.

What to skip with small children
- Desert safaris: check the product’s age, height, seating and health conditions. If you need an itinerary without dune bashing, ask for written confirmation before booking, rather than at pickup.
- Long souk mornings. Crowded, hot and not much fun below age 8.
- Outdoor theme parks in summer. Motiongate and Legoland are largely open-air.
Practical things that actually matter
Getting around
Arrange a suitable child seat before requesting a vehicle and confirm the service’s accepted age and size rather than assuming a seat will be available on arrival. The Metro can be another option with a pushchair; check your station and access route.
The heat
Between June and September, plan outdoors for before 09:00 and after 18:00 only. See what to do in Dubai in summer. Sand and playground equipment get hot enough to burn.
Facilities
Check the changing facilities, food arrangements and parking at the attraction you choose. Availability and parking charges vary; do not assume every restaurant provides these facilities or that parking is free.
Eating out
Children are welcome almost everywhere and high chairs are standard. Family brunches with kids’ clubs are a Dubai institution — see how brunch works. Note that many other brunches are adults-only.
A three-day family plan
- Day 1: Dubai Mall aquarium walkway and KidZania, then the Fountain in the evening
- Day 2: Beach in the morning, indoor attraction at midday, JBR promenade after sunset
- Day 3: Abra crossing and old Dubai early, then Global Village or Miracle Garden in the evening if in season
Compare with our standard three-day itinerary.
Common questions
Is Dubai safe for children?
Plan for transport, heat and crowds, supervise children, and agree on a meeting point and how to ask venue staff for help. A city’s reputation does not establish that every activity or setting suits every age.
Do children need a visa?
They follow the same rules as adults — see the visa guide.
Best age to visit?
Choose attractions around the child’s interests, height, ride conditions and breaks; a ticket’s age category is not necessarily the access rule for every ride.
Check the selected product’s age, height, accompaniment, ticket category and seasonal availability before paying. editorial policy.
