Brunch in Dubai is not a late breakfast. It is a Saturday institution — a three-to-four hour sitting with unlimited food and, at most venues, unlimited drinks, for a fixed price. It is the single most Dubai thing you can do, and prices range from AED 150 to over AED 900 for what is superficially the same event.
How Dubai brunch works
- When: traditionally Friday, now mostly Saturday since the UAE weekend moved. Usually 12:30–16:00.
- Format: a fixed price for unlimited food, with drink packages tiered — soft drinks, house beverages, or premium.
- Booking: essential. The good ones fill a week or more ahead.
The price tiers, and what actually changes
AED 150–250 — the entry tier
Usually soft drinks only, or a limited house package. Often a buffet rather than à la carte. Perfectly good food; less atmosphere.
Best for: a first brunch, families, or anyone who does not drink.
AED 300–450 — the standard
Where most Dubai brunches sit. House drinks included, a mix of live stations and served dishes, usually live music.
Best for: the classic experience. This is the tier to aim for.
AED 500–900+ — the premium tier
Champagne packages, seafood towers, hotel restaurants with a view. The step up in food quality is real but smaller than the step up in price.
Best for: a specific celebration.
Where to look, by area
- Marina and JBR — the densest concentration, mostly mid-tier, many with a sea view.
- Downtown — hotel brunches with Burj Khalifa views; premium pricing.
- Palm Jumeirah — resort brunches, the most expensive, best for a full day out.
- DIFC — smarter, more restaurant-led, less party.
- Business Bay — newer venues, often better value than Downtown for a similar view.
Choosing well — five practical rules
- Decide party or food first. Dubai brunches split into “long lunch” and “afternoon party”. They are very different rooms and the menu rarely tells you which.
- Check what the drinks package actually includes. “House beverages” varies enormously between venues.
- Check the time. Some run 12:30–15:30, others to 16:00 with a post-brunch extension. The extension is usually where the extra cost goes.
- Ask about children. Many brunches are adults-only; family brunches are a separate category with kids’ clubs.
- Book direct where you can. Aggregator sites often show the same price without the venue’s own inclusions.
Brunch during Ramadan
Brunches pause during Ramadan and are replaced by iftar — an evening buffet after sunset, which is its own excellent tradition and usually cheaper. Check whether your dates fall in Ramadan.
What it really costs
Budget realistically:
- Mid-tier brunch with house drinks: AED 350–450 per person
- Plus taxi both ways: AED 80–150
- Plus the post-brunch bar, if you stay: AED 200+
A brunch day out is rarely under AED 500 per person once everything is counted. If that is not the trip you want, our guide to eating well for under AED 30 is the other end of the same city.
Common questions
Is brunch worth it?
Once, yes — it is a genuine part of Dubai life and nothing else replicates it. Weekly, it becomes an expensive habit.
Do I need to dress up?
Smart casual is the norm. Beachwear is not accepted anywhere; some venues refuse shorts and flip-flops.
Can I go alone?
You can, but brunch is built around groups. Bar seating at a restaurant-led brunch works better solo.
