Closed until early 2027. The Museum of the Future closed to visitors at the beginning of September 2026 and, according to its official website, reopens in the first quarter of 2027 with entirely new exhibitions. The current exhibitions will not return in their previous form.
The Museum of the Future is the silver torus on Sheikh Zayed Road with Arabic calligraphy cut through its skin. It is the most architecturally interesting building in Dubai and one of the most divisive attractions — people either love it or feel they paid a lot for a short walk.
Here is what you actually get.
What it costs
- The museum is temporarily closed for a renewal. The official site says it reopens in the first quarter of 2027 with entirely new exhibitions, and that tickets go on sale closer to the reopening.
- No prices yet for the reopened museum; none of the current exhibitions return in their previous form
What it actually is
It is not a museum in the conventional sense. There are almost no artefacts. It is a sequence of immersive, designed environments across five floors, each an argument about a possible future:
- A fictional space station orbiting Earth in 2071
- A digital library of species — a DNA vault for a damaged biosphere
- A wellness and spirituality floor built around sensory experience
- Future Heroes, a large children’s play-and-learn floor
- Rotating exhibitions of near-term technology
The production quality is genuinely high — closer to a themed attraction than a museum.
The honest verdict
Go if: you care about architecture and design, you enjoy immersive experiences, you are travelling with children aged roughly 5–12, or you are visiting in summer and want something substantial and indoors.
Skip it if: you want history, objects or information density. You will find the content thin. Also skip it if you are on a tight budget and have not yet done Burj Khalifa or old Dubai — it has been one of the pricier tickets in the city.
The common complaint is that the visit takes 90 minutes to two hours and feels short for the price. That is a fair criticism. The counter-argument is that the building itself is worth seeing from the inside, and no photograph conveys it.
How to do it well
- Book online once tickets go on sale. Before the closure, entry was by timed slot booked on the official site.
- Take an early slot. The floors are compact and crowds affect the experience more than in a large museum.
- Allow two hours. Do not schedule anything tightly afterwards.
- Photography is allowed and the interiors are the reason many people go — the white upper floor in particular.
- Skip Future Heroes if you have no children — it is squarely for under-12s.
Getting there
On Sheikh Zayed Road, next to Emirates Towers. Emirates Towers Metro station is a short walk — one of the few major Dubai attractions genuinely close to a station. See the Metro guide.

Combining it with other things
It sits between Downtown and Business Bay, so it fits naturally into a Downtown day: museum in the morning, Dubai Mall at midday, the Fountain in the evening. That is close to Day 1 of our three-day itinerary.
Common questions
How long does a visit take?
90 minutes to two hours for most people.
Is it suitable for young children?
Yes — Future Heroes is one of the better children’s floors in the city. See Dubai with kids.
Can I see the building without a ticket?
Yes. The exterior is visible from Sheikh Zayed Road and from Emirates Towers Metro station, and it is free to photograph. For a lot of visitors that is genuinely enough.
Is it accessible?
Fully — lifts and step-free routes throughout.
Checked 10 October 2026: the museum is closed and, according to its official website, reopens in the first quarter of 2027; prices are not published yet. See our editorial policy.
