UAE job loss insurance (ILOE): am I eligible, and how much?

If you lose your job for a reason other than resigning, the scheme pays 60% of your salary for up to 3 months, capped at AED 10,000 or 20,000 a month depending on your category. Answer six questions to see whether you qualify and what you would receive.

    Questions people ask

    Who has to subscribe?

    All employees in the federal government and private sectors, except investors who own the establishment, domestic workers, people on temporary contracts, under-18s, and Emiratis who qualify for retirement or draw a pension and took a new job.

    What if I do not subscribe or stop paying?

    A fine of AED 400 for not subscribing, and AED 400 for not paying the premiums.

    How do I subscribe and pay?

    Through the ILOE website and app, its contact centre, Tasheel and Tawjeeh centres, ATMs and kiosks, exchange houses, some bank apps, SMS on du and Etisalat, and the BOTIM app.

    When is compensation paid?

    You file the claim within 30 days of the end of the job; once reviewed, compensation is paid within two weeks of the date you filed.

    What if my basic salary is exactly AED 16,000?

    The official page says "less than 16,000" and "more than 16,000" and does not cover equality. This tool treats it as category 1; check the category on your subscription certificate.
