    Questions people ask

    Why are some lines on basic pay and others on total pay?

    Because the law says so: gratuity (Art. 51) and unused leave (Art. 29(9)) use the basic wage; the notice allowance uses the last wage (Art. 43(4)), which the law defines as basic pay plus allowances (Art. 1).

    When must I be paid?

    Within 14 days of the end of the contract (Art. 53). In a dispute, the complaint goes to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Art. 54).

    Can my employer deduct from it?

    Amounts you owe under the law or a court judgment can be deducted, on the Implementing Regulation's conditions (Art. 51(7)). That is why the calculator shows a notice allowance you may owe without subtracting it.

    Does the notice period count towards gratuity?

    Yes. The contract stays in force during notice (Art. 43(2)), so those days are service. Enter your actual last working day.
