Most of Fujairah’s snorkelling and diving happens off Al Aqah, on the emirate’s northern coast. Snoopy Island sits about 200 metres from Al Aqah’s Sandy Beach, in water up to about 7 metres deep. The UAE environment ministry lists it, and the deeper sites nearby, as reached by boat through diving centres, all year round.

For Fujairah’s forts, mosques and wadis, see our Fujairah visitor guide. This page is only about the coast.

Fujairah’s coast in brief

The UAE government portal says Fujairah’s shore runs along the Gulf of Oman for about 70 km, from Fujairah city in the south to Dibba in the far north. The Ministry of Economy and Tourism names four Fujairah beaches among the UAE’s beach destinations: Sandy Beach, Umbrella Beach, Al Aqah Beach and Dibba Beach.

Beaches the official sources describe

Beach What the official page says Practical note
Al Aqah Beach The most popular Fujairah beach, with deep-sea diving and snorkelling sites and a coral reef. Surrounded by hotels and resorts with private beaches that sell day passes. Listed as open 24 hours. Day-pass prices are set by each hotel. Source
Sandy Beach (Al Aqah) Snoopy Island lies about 200 m off it. The departure point for the 5-minute boat ride to Snoopy Island. Source
Fiquet Beach, Dibba A dedicated campsite with food trucks, open 24 hours. Swimming is not permitted here. It is the starting point for dhow trips to snorkel in sheltered coves. Source
Umbrella Beach and Dibba Beach Named by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, without further details. Check facilities locally. Source

Snoopy Island: what it is and how you get there

The Ministry of Economy and Tourism says Snoopy Island lies off Al Aqah beach, takes its name from its likeness to the cartoon dog, and draws water-sports visitors. The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) adds the practical detail:

  • About 200 metres from Al Aqah’s Sandy Beach; about 5 minutes by boat.
  • Maximum depth around 7 metres, used for both diving and snorkelling.
  • Marine life listed: trumpetfish, sergeant major, redtoothed triggerfish, parrotfish and turtles.
  • Accessible all year round. Fees apply only when you go through a diving centre, and you need the right diving or snorkelling equipment.

Dive and snorkel sites off Al Aqah

MOCCAE lists these Fujairah sites. All are reached by boat from Al Aqah through a diving centre, and all are open year-round.

Site Boat from Al Aqah Max depth Who it suits Marine life listed
Snoopy Island About 5 min About 7 m Diving and snorkelling Trumpetfish, parrotfish, turtles
Sharm Rocks About 15 min 15 m All levels; three main pinnacles Mackerel, lionfish, boxfish, cuttlefish, turtles
Dibba Rock About 20 min About 15 m Diving and snorkelling; inside Al Aqah marine protected area Sea turtles, clownfish, parrotfish, blacktip reef and whale sharks, seahorses
Inchcape 2 About 25 min About 22 m Advanced open water divers; a sunken vessel that now acts as an artificial reef Moray eels, boxfish, scorpionfish, crabs

For enquiries, MOCCAE points to Fujairah Adventures on +971 9 222 2252 (8:00 to 14:00, Saturday to Thursday) or to licensed diving centres in Fujairah.

Snorkelling by dhow from Dibba

Fujairah’s tourism authority says Fiquet Beach in Dibba is the starting point for traditional dhow trips to snorkel and swim in sheltered coves. Half-day and full-day trips include gear, meals and refreshments on board. Swimming from the beach itself is not permitted, so do your swimming from the boat at the coves.

Rules and safety that are officially stated

  • No swimming at Fiquet Beach, as stated by the Fujairah Tourism and Antiquities Authority.
  • Dibba Rock is inside a marine protected area. MOCCAE classifies it as a protected area within Al Aqah marine protected area. The Fujairah Environment Authority’s website did not load when we checked, so we cannot quote its rules. Ask your diving centre what applies before you enter the water.
  • Inchcape 2 is for advanced open water divers, according to MOCCAE. Do not book it on a beginner certificate.
  • Offshore sites are reached by boat through diving centres; that is how MOCCAE describes access to all four sites above.
  • Emergency numbers (UAE government portal): 999 police, 998 ambulance, 997 civil defence, 996 coastguard.

Getting to the coast from Dubai

  • Bus: RTA lists route E700 among its intercity services to Fujairah. Since August 2024 it starts from Etisalat Bus Station instead of Union. Fujairah’s tourism authority puts the bus journey at about two hours. RTA does not publish the E700 fare or times on these pages, so check RTA’s journey planner or timetable page before you travel.
  • Car: the tourism authority says Fujairah is less than three hours’ drive from Dubai International or Abu Dhabi International Airport.
  • Taxi: taxis can be hired from Dubai or Sharjah, including shared taxis.

Al Aqah and Dibba are on the north of the coast. A car makes it far easier to combine a beach with a boat trip.

What this guide does not tell you

We do not quote prices for dives, snorkel trips, dhow trips or hotel day passes, and we do not recommend a specific operator; no official page we found publishes these. We also give no water temperature, visibility or best-month claims, because no official source we checked states them. Book with a licensed diving centre and ask about conditions on the day.
