Dubai month by month — temperatures, prices, Ramadan, and which weeks are genuinely the best value.

Dubai has one genuinely good season and one genuinely difficult one, and the gap between them is enormous. Getting this right matters more here than in almost any other destination — the same trip can be delightful in January and close to unbearable in July.

The short answer

November to March. Daytime temperatures sit roughly between 24 and 30°C, evenings are pleasant, and everything outdoors is open. This is when Dubai is at its best and when it is most expensive.

Month by month

November to March — the season

Comfortable days, cool evenings, low humidity. Every outdoor attraction is running: Global Village, Miracle Garden, beach clubs, outdoor dining, desert camps.

The catch: hotel rates peak, especially over Christmas, New Year and the February half-term. Book well ahead.

April and October — the shoulder

The best value in the year, and genuinely underrated. Daytime highs around 32–36°C — hot, but manageable if you plan around midday. Prices drop noticeably and the crowds thin out.

If your dates are flexible and your budget matters, October and April are the smart choice.

May and September — the edges

Hot. Highs around 38–41°C with rising humidity. Outdoor sightseeing becomes an early-morning-and-evening activity. Hotel prices are low.

June to August — the summer

Daytime highs of 40–45°C with very high humidity near the coast. This is not a mild inconvenience; walking outside in the afternoon is genuinely unpleasant and, for some people, unsafe.

It can still work if you accept what the trip will be: malls, aquariums, indoor attractions, hotel pools, and outdoor time only after sunset. Hotel rates are at their lowest of the year, sometimes dramatically so.

Ramadan

Ramadan moves roughly 11 days earlier each year. During it, non-Muslims are not required to fast, but eating, drinking and smoking in public during daylight hours is best avoided; some restaurants change their hours or close during the day, and nightlife is quieter.

It is not a reason to avoid Dubai — iftar after sunset is one of the most enjoyable things in the calendar, and the city has a completely different atmosphere — but you should know before you book. Hotel rates are usually lower.

What about rain?

Dubai gets very little rain, almost all of it between December and March, and usually in short heavy bursts. Drainage is limited, so a heavy hour can cause serious flooding and traffic. It is rare, but it happens.

How the heat actually changes a trip

In summer, a plan that works perfectly in January falls apart. Our three-day itinerary has an outdoor morning in the old quarter and a desert evening — in July you would move the old quarter to 7am and skip it entirely by 10am.

Practical summer rules:

  • Outdoors before 09:00 and after 18:00 only
  • The Metro and malls are connected by air-conditioned walkways — use them
  • Carry water everywhere; you dehydrate faster than you notice
  • Beach sand is genuinely too hot to walk on barefoot until evening

Common questions

Is Dubai too hot in October?

Early October is still hot — mid to high 30s. By late October it is very pleasant. If you can, aim for the second half of the month.

Is it worth visiting in summer if flights are cheap?

Yes, if you build the trip around indoor attractions and evenings, and if the hotel has a good pool. No, if your plan was beaches and walking.

When is Dubai most crowded?

Christmas and New Year, then February half-term. Book months ahead for those.
