The College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) is the medical school of United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), on the Tawam campus in Al Ain. Founded in 1984, it teaches the Doctor of Medicine (MD) and health-sciences degrees. This page is for applicants, parents, visiting medical students and anyone who needs to contact the college.
What it offers
Besides the MD, the college lists undergraduate health-sciences programmes, a Master of Medical Sciences, a Master of Public Health, research degrees and continuing medical education for practising professionals. The college’s dean is Prof. Fatma Al Jasmi.
Applying to the MD programme
- Admission is only for UAE nationals and children of Emirati mothers.
- Apply through the Ministry of Education’s NAPO system and rank the UAEU MD programme as option 1; only first-choice applicants are reviewed.
- Fresh school graduates need at least 90% in English, mathematics and two of biology, chemistry or physics, or equivalent scores (for example IELTS Academic 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 70 for English).
- Shortlisted applicants sit the college’s admission exam (MCQ), and those who pass go on to Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI). The final decision combines school grades, the MCQ and the MMI.
- Advanced Stream students need an overall average of at least 90%, Elite Track 85%, IB at least 28 points; General Stream graduates are not eligible.
For the most recent intake the NAPO deadline was 31 March 2026, and late applications were not reviewed. Check the admission page for the next cycle.

The college states that its external elective programme is currently suspended and asks students to apply directly to their chosen hospital.
