Regal Fabrics Satwa

Regal Fabrics Satwa is the Al Satwa store of Regal Fabrics, a fabric retailer that opened its first shop in Bur Dubai in 1952 and now has 15 stores in the UAE and Qatar. The Satwa store is opposite Satwa Clinic and offers tailoring, so it suits anyone buying fabric by the metre or having clothes made.

What Regal sells

The company’s website lists fabrics by type, including silk, chiffon, satin, organza, brocade, georgette, velvet, crepe, cotton and viscose; wool suiting and shirting, including Italian qualities; linen, cupro and organic cotton in its sustainable range; and ethnic wear such as sarees, thobes and dirac fabric.

Tailoring

The store list marks Satwa as “Tailoring Available”. Regal’s FAQ says the price of stitching depends on the style and the work on the garment; the stylist quotes it, and you pay by cash or card. The company says it has offered made-to-measure tailoring, under the name Regal Stitch, since 2011.

Buying fabric

Most fabrics are sold by the metre with a minimum of 2 metres; some are sold by the piece. Prices on the online shop are shown per metre or per piece and include VAT. For online orders, the FAQ says fabric is cut to the customer’s requirement, so UAE sales are final with no refunds, exchanges or returns, and defective items must be reported on the day of delivery.
