Every summer, from 15 June to 15 September, work directly under the sun and in open places is not allowed in the UAE between 12:30pm and 3pm (Ministerial Resolution No. 44 of 2022).

Working hours around it

  • Normal working hours are 8 a day or 48 a week (Article 17).
  • After five consecutive hours of work, the worker is entitled to one or more breaks totalling at least an hour, which do not count as working time.
  • Overtime is at most two hours a day, paid at the basic hourly rate plus at least 25%, or 50% between 10pm and 4am (shift workers excluded).
