The virtual work visa lets you live in the UAE while working for a company outside it. You need health insurance, a medical test, proof of the job and a salary of at least USD 3,500 a month.

The virtual work visa lets a foreigner live in the UAE while working for a company outside it. The main financial condition is a salary of at least USD 3,500 or its equivalent.

What you need

  • A copy of your health insurance
  • A medical fitness test result
  • Proof that you work outside the UAE
  • A salary certificate showing at least USD 3,500, or the equivalent in another currency

ICP, or GDRFA Dubai.

How it differs from a UAE job

With a normal UAE job, the employer applies for your work visa, which is valid for two years and renewable, and UAE labour law covers your contract: see annual leave, notice period and the gratuity calculator. On a virtual work visa your employment stays with the company abroad.

Conditions change from time to time; ICP (the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security) and, in Dubai, GDRFA are the reference.
