Hudayriyat Mar Vista Beach
About Hudayriyat Mar Vista Beach
Hudayriyat Beach is the public beach area on Hudayriyat Island, off Abu Dhabi’s southwest coast and across the water from Al Bateen Beach. It suits families, swimmers, cyclists and anyone wanting a free day by the sea, with paid activities run by private operators close by.
Getting there
Modon, the island’s developer, says Hudayriyat Bridge is the main road link. It puts the island around 15 to 20 minutes from Abu Dhabi city centre and about 25 to 30 minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport. By bus, Modon lists route 040 from Electra Park and route 73 from Al Reem Island, which has space for bicycles. Free parking is available in marked zones, including near Marsana and the main beaches.
What is free and what is paid
Visit Abu Dhabi, the emirate’s official tourism website, says there is no entry fee to Hudayriyat Island and that the beach, bike paths and playground are free to use. Modon adds that the Marsana promenade, the Heritage Trail and the public beach areas are free. Swimming at managed beaches, Circuit X, Surf Abu Dhabi sessions and 321Sports bookings are paid, and each operator sets its own prices.
What is on the island
- Marsana: the main waterfront promenade, with a public beach, a marina, a splash park, a skate park, cafés and food trucks, and a Night Beach for floodlit evening swimming under lifeguard supervision.
- Surf Abu Dhabi: a surf facility with a wave pool.
- Circuit X: an adventure zone with Splash, Skate, BMX and High Ropes parks.
- Trail X: a 15 km mountain-bike trail with four levels.
- Hudayriyat Heritage Trail: about 5.5 km out and back. Visit Abu Dhabi notes the island was once home to pearl divers.
- Bab Al Nojoum: a beachfront glamping resort with tents and cabins.
Before you go
Neither Visit Abu Dhabi nor Modon publishes fixed opening hours for the beach, and Modon advises checking with the individual operators. The island opened to the public on 10 November 2020. Visit Abu Dhabi names marsana.ae as the website of the beach operator.
