Deira Clocktower
About Deira Clocktower
Deira Clocktower is a monument at the centre of a roundabout in Deira, Dubai, on the approach to Al Maktoum Bridge. Built in 1963, it stands at what Dubai Municipality describes as the first land passage between Deira and Bur Dubai and has long been one of the city's main crossroads. Between May and August 2023, Dubai Municipality redeveloped the roundabout at a cost of AED 10 million. The work renovated the paving and added a new fountain whose four arms extend symmetrically opposite the tower's columns, with central nozzles rising up to five metres, each fitted with RGB lighting. The landscaping was replanted with ground cover and Washingtonia palms, and the site was equipped for three-dimensional projection mapping during national ceremonies. The clocktower is viewed from the surrounding roads and is not a ticketed attraction.
