Khorfakkan Beach is a 3-kilometre crescent of palm-lined sand on the bay of Khorfakkan, Sharjah’s town on the Gulf of Oman coast. It suits families and day-trippers who want swimming, ball games on the sand and water sports, with a short boat ride to a reef island for snorkelling.
What you can do
- On the sand: swing sets and football goalposts; Visit Sharjah suggests bringing your own ball.
- In the water: swimming, sailing, kayaking, parasailing and fishing, with several fishing spots further out.
- Rentals: boats and jet skis are rented from the huts near the centre of the corniche.
Sira Khorfakkan (Shark Island)
Sira Khorfakkan is a small rocky island in the bay, behind the port at the southern end of the beach, a short boat ride away. Visit Sharjah describes a coral reef with sea anemones and turtles for snorkellers, and rock formations with moray eels, rays and Arabian angelfish for divers. You can also kayak there. Snorkels, fins, masks and dive equipment can be rented, and local dive centres organise day trips; for families with children, Visit Sharjah recommends using a nearby dive centre as a guide.
