Majlis Ghorfat Umm Al Sheif
About Majlis Ghorfat Umm Al Sheif
Majlis Ghorfat Umm Al Sheif is a heritage site in the Jumeirah area of Dubai, managed by Dubai Culture. It was established in 1955 as the summer retreat of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed, in a location chosen for its quiet surroundings away from the busy town. The majlis displays traditional Emirati furnishings and objects, including copper vessels, coffee stoves, pottery, carpets, clocks, radios and historical weapons. Visitors can learn how Dubai's ruling councils functioned as places for debate, discussion, representation of views and decision-making. The site is open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm and is closed on Saturday and Sunday. Enquiries can be made on 800 33222.
