About Sharjah Civil Defence Authority
Sharjah Civil Defence Authority (SCDA) is the Sharjah government body for fire and life safety. Besides emergency response on 997, it issues the safety approvals that building owners, consultants, fire-safety companies and businesses need in Sharjah, such as compliance certificates and approvals of building drawings and completed buildings.
Main service groups
The authority’s website groups its services into five categories: Certificates of Compliance; Drawings and Building Completion; Hazardous Materials Establishments Permits; Licensing of Fire Protection and Fire Fighting Establishments; and System User Management. Applications are made online. The “Apply” buttons on the service pages lead to the Sharjah digital services platform, and the authority’s FAQ also points to its e-services portal, smartservices.scda.shj.ae.

- Trade licence issued by the Economic Department
- Title deed or proof of ownership, and the land map or plot plan

- Receipt of fees paid to the Economic Department
- Owner’s ID
Building Compliance Certificate
- Title deed or proof of ownership, and the land map or plot plan
- Connection certificate for the AMAN alarm monitoring system
- Owners’ IDs, or commercial licences if the owner is a company
SCDA describes this as a service used by fire companies. The prerequisites it lists are a valid SCDA compliance certificate for the company, a valid installation and maintenance licence, and a valid annual maintenance contract (AMC).
