Choose experiments over a passive gallery visit

Sharjah Science Museum is in Al Abar on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saqr Al Qasimi Road. The authority describes more than 50 interactive exhibits. This is a useful starting point when your group wants to explore scientific ideas through participation; it should not be confused with a timetable of guaranteed demonstrations.

Choose two ideas to investigate rather than rushing through every station. For each, make a prediction, try the interaction if it is available, and compare what happened with the prediction. Ask children to explain what they would change on a second attempt. That simple method can turn a short visit into a discussion instead of a race to operate every exhibit. It is our suggested learning approach, not a staff-led workshop.

Understand the shared ticket

The official Science Museum page publishes a joint ticket with Sharjah Archaeology Museum: AED 25 for ages 13+, AED 15 for ages 2–12 and free under 2. Two adults and two children aged 6 and 10 total AED 80 at these published categories. This is the combined ticket price, not a separately verified science-only tariff.

The Archaeology Museum also publishes its own standalone admission. Decide whether you genuinely want both museums before choosing the shared product. Ask about the joint ticket’s validity and whether your planned return or second entry is allowed; a two-museum ticket is not automatically a multi-day or unlimited-entry pass. Meals, transport and separately sold activities need their own budget.

Put demonstrations ahead of the route

Regular hours are 08:00–20:00 Saturday–Thursday and 16:00–20:00 Friday. Ramadan has shorter hours and Friday closure. If a scientific presentation is the main reason to go, ask for its availability and timing first. The authority itself tells visitors to confirm demonstrations; turning up within museum hours does not guarantee a particular session.

The published drop-in family workshops target ages 6–12, which is a programme age band, not the admission-price boundary. For younger siblings, ask what activities are suitable and supervise their participation. Use the official destination for travel planning and allow time between museums if choosing the joint ticket. We have not booked a workshop, inspected accessibility or established that every station works on your day.
