Corniche Beach Park
About Corniche Beach Park
Corniche Beach is the public beach on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, along the city’s northern waterfront. It is for residents and visitors who want to swim at a lifeguarded beach, walk or cycle the promenade, or spend an evening by the sea, with separate sections for families and for individuals and groups.
What is there
According to Abu Dhabi City Municipality, the beach on Khalifa Al Mubarak Street opened on 7 July 2008, covers about 220,500 sq m in two phases and received Blue Flag certification in April 2011. Visit Abu Dhabi describes the Corniche as about eight kilometres of landscaped waterfront with separate cycle and pedestrian paths, and the beach itself as about 2 km long.
Facilities listed by the municipality include food outlets, a mini mart and a beach library; a children’s playground, volleyball and football courts, cycling and a jogging track; men’s and women’s prayer rooms; a first-aid room, toilets, showers, changing rooms and an ATM; facilities for people of determination, including a floating chair; and police, lifeguards and security staff.

The official sources do not agree. The municipality page lists no entry fee. Visit Abu Dhabi says Al Sahil (Gate 4) is free, but its FAQ gives AED 10 for adults and AED 5 for children. Check at the gate. Sun loungers and umbrellas can be hired for a fee, and Visit Abu Dhabi lists bike hire from Fun Ride Sports on the boardwalk at AED 30 an hour for adults and AED 20 for children.
Getting there
Visit Abu Dhabi says there are more than 1,100 free parking spaces within a five-minute walk of the beach. By bus, the nearest stops it lists are Hamdan St / Sultan Bin Zayed St, Sultan Bin Zayed St / Khalifa St, and Khalifa St / Al Noor Hospital. Taxis are the other option it names.
