About Sharjah Maritime Museum
Choose maritime history or a combined marine day
Sharjah Maritime Museum in Al Khan explores the emirate’s relationship with the sea through fishing, pearling and boats. It is adjacent to Sharjah Aquarium, but the two admissions are not identical. Decide whether you want to focus on people and maritime livelihoods or also add the aquarium before selecting the ticket.
The museum alone lists AED 10 for ages 13 and above and AED 5 for ages 2–12; under-two entry is free. The joint museum-and-aquarium product is AED 25 for the older category and AED 15 for children. Two adults and children aged 6 and 10 therefore total AED 30 for the museum alone or AED 80 for the joint product: an AED 50 difference, before transport and food.
Make the exhibits answer a question
For a focused route, start with a boat and ask how its form relates to its use. Then compare the tools or information associated with pearling and fishing: what work depended on those objects, and how did the sea connect a household with trade? This is a suggested method of reading the collection, not a claim that a particular guide or hands-on session is available.
For children, agree one object each to discuss afterwards rather than rushing through every label. If combining the aquarium, distinguish seeing marine life there from learning about historical maritime work here. That keeps the second venue useful rather than buying a joint ticket simply because it exists.
Friday arrival needs a different plan
The museum’s regular schedule is Saturday–Thursday 8 am–8 pm and Friday 4 pm–8 pm. A Friday morning itinerary would miss its public opening. Holiday and Ramadan arrangements can differ from these regular hours.
Check the aquarium’s own date and hours separately before committing to both; the reviewed joint-ticket description does not prove both venues open together on every date. Use the museum entrance in Al Khan for arrival, keep the joint ticket if selected, and leave time to move between the venues rather than treating the admission prices as a complete day budget.
