University Of Sharjah – Medical Campus
About University Of Sharjah – Medical Campus
The University of Sharjah Medical Campus is where the university’s College of Medicine (building M27) and its dental teaching hospital are based. Students and applicants come here for medical study; for the public, the main reason to visit is the University Dental Hospital Sharjah, which treats patients in supervised student clinics and a paid specialist centre.
College of Medicine
The college has three departments: Basic Medical Sciences; Clinical Sciences; and Family and Community Medicine and Behavioral Sciences. Its degree finder covers undergraduate, master’s, PhD and higher diploma programmes, and it runs a Medical Students Research Program. Contact: +971 6 505 7201, [email protected].
University Dental Hospital Sharjah
The hospital opened on 11 June 2011 and offers general and specialty dental care. It has two ways to be treated:
- Teaching Clinics: student doctors from the College of Dental Medicine treat patients in pairs, and faculty members check and approve each step. Patients first have a full diagnosis, including medical history, a mucosal examination and X-rays; eligible patients go on a waiting list and are called for treatment.
- Center of Excellence for Dental Medicine: faculty members treat the public directly. Charges apply, and the hospital says many health insurance companies are accepted.
There is also an Interns Clinic and a Mobile Dental Clinic.
First visit to the teaching clinics
- Go to the Urgent Care Clinic. First visits are walk-in only; no appointments are given.
- Pay the registration fee of AED 105. It is charged again each year to continue treatment.
- Treatment in the teaching clinics is free, except Oral Medicine lab tests, general anaesthesia in the People of Determination Clinic, and oral surgery materials such as implants and bone grafts.
