What time does the Dubai Metro close?

RTA lists Metro station opening until midnight on most days and 1 am on Saturday morning for Friday service. This is not the last departure time at every platform. For a late journey, check your station, direction and transfers in S’hail, then make a backup return plan.

For an arrival after service finishes, the airport taxi ranks operate around the clock. Late evenings out

A dinner that starts at ten in the Marina or Downtown will often end after the last train. Plan the ride home before you go out, or choose somewhere you can walk back from.

What still runs after the last train

• Taxis run through the night. Hailed on the street between 10 pm and 6 am, the starting fare is AED 5.50 (AED 5 in the daytime).
• App-booked taxis start at AED 10 overnight on RTA’s e-hail fare table.
• Uber, Careem and Bolt also operate; see whether Uber is worth it in Dubai.
• Tram: Usual station hours extend to 1 am; that does not guarantee the last tram from your stop. It cannot provide a Metro connection after Metro service ends.

A worked example: missing the last train

Say you miss the midnight train and take a street taxi for 20 km at 12:30 am, with no waiting and no Salik gate:

• Night starting fare: AED 5.50
• Distance: 20 km x AED 2.45 (Dubai Taxi’s per-kilometre rate) = AED 49
• Total: AED 54.50, before any waiting time (50 fils a minute) or Salik.

The same trip on a Silver nol card during Metro hours costs at most AED 7.50. That gap is the reason to check the timetable before a late night.

Rules worth knowing near closing time

• A nol journey can include up to 3 transfers and last up to 180 minutes; a change between two modes, such as Metro to Tram, must be made within 30 minutes.
• RTA’s fine for travelling without a valid fare is AED 200.
• Child fares: the fare table says age 5 and below, while the top-up service says under 5; confirm at the ticket office for age exactly 5.

The Tram and the Palm Monorail
