Al Aqah Beach
About Al Aqah Beach
Al Aqah Beach is on Fujairah’s east coast, on the Gulf of Oman. Fujairah Tourism describes it as the emirate’s most popular beach and a base for water activities, diving and snorkelling. It suits day-trippers and divers, especially those heading to Snoopy Island or other dive sites reached by boat from Al Aqah.
What is there
Fujairah Tourism says the beach is surrounded by hotels and resorts with private beaches that sell day passes, which can include dining, play areas and pool time. It lists Al Aqah under Beaches & Parks and shows it as open 24 hours. Day-pass prices are set by each hotel; the tourism authority does not publish them.
Snoopy Island and Dibba Rock
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) says Snoopy Island lies about 200 metres from Al Aqah’s Sandy Beach, about 5 minutes by boat, with a maximum depth of around 7 metres. It is used for diving and snorkelling and is open all year. Marine life listed includes trumpetfish, sergeant major, parrotfish and turtles. Dibba Rock, inside the Al Aqah marine protected area, is about 20 minutes by boat, with a depth of about 15 metres.
For both sites, MOCCAE says trips are arranged through diving centres, fees apply only when you go through a diving centre, facilities depend on the centre, and you need the right diving or snorkelling equipment.
Getting there
Fujairah Tourism says buses between Dubai and Fujairah take about two hours from Union Square, and that driving from Abu Dhabi or Dubai airport takes less than 3 hours. It does not give a bus route to Al Aqah itself.
