About Al Hefaiyah Mountain Conservation Centre
Al Hefaiyah Mountain Conservation Centre is a wildlife centre at the base of the Hajar Mountains on the outskirts of Kalba, about 130 kilometres east of Sharjah city via the Sharjah-Kalba Road. It is managed by the Environment and Protected Areas Authority of Sharjah. According to Visit Sharjah, the centre covers 12 square kilometres and is home to about 30 native desert and mountain species. Indoor galleries show smaller animals such as snakes, lizards, hedgehogs and scorpions, while larger outdoor enclosures hold Arabian leopards, Arabian wolves, tahr and caracals. Guided tours are available, and larger groups can tour the site by golf cart. The centre has an educational focus on mountain and desert habitats and is aimed at children and families. It lies close to the Kalba Birds of Prey Centre. Opening hours and ticket prices should be confirmed with the authority before visiting.
