About The Archaeological “Tomb of Maleha”
The Umm an-Nar Tomb, recorded by the Sharjah Archaeology Authority as Mleiha 3, is a Bronze Age burial monument near the Mleiha Archaeological Centre in the central region of the Emirate of Sharjah. It was built around 2300 BCE and remained in use for about 200 years. The tomb is circular and measures 13.85 metres in diameter, making it one of the largest known graves of the Umm an-Nar period in the UAE. Inside, the burial chamber is divided into an eastern and a western half, and each half is subdivided into four units connected to one another by doorways. The Sharjah Archaeology Authority describes it as one of the most substantial of the many ancient funerary sites in the Mleiha area. Visitors usually see it as part of a visit to the Mleiha Archaeological Centre.
